FSI American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Practice Exam

The correct answer is the evaluation stage, as it is not recognized as one of the four primary stages of the first session in Strategic therapy. The four stages typically include the social stage, where the therapist builds rapport and establishes a connection with the clients; the problem stage, during which the therapist helps the clients articulate the issues they are facing; the goal-setting stage, where the clients and therapist collaboratively identify the goals for therapy.

In Strategic therapy, the emphasis lies in understanding the presenting problems, defining objectives, and developing strategies to address those issues, but formal evaluation of progress typically occurs later in the therapeutic process rather than being a distinct stage in the initial session.
